One of the most overlooked parts of dog care is nail maintenance. Many owners focus on grooming, exercise, and nutrition—but a dog’s nails play a huge role in their comfort, posture, and overall health.
That’s why I’m excited to announce that I’m now offering dog nail trimming services as part of my business.
Whether you’re a current client or just looking for a convenient way to keep your dog’s nails maintained, I’ve created a couple simple options to make nail care easy and stress-free.
Why Nail Maintenance Matters
When a dog’s nails get too long, it can cause more than just that familiar “clicking” sound on the floor.
Overgrown nails can lead to:
• Joint and posture issues – Long nails change how a dog places their feet on the ground, which can strain joints and muscles.
• Pain while walking or running – Pressure on long nails can push them back into the nail bed.
• Higher risk of injury – Long nails can split, snag, or break.
• Reduced traction – Dogs rely on their paws for balance, and overly long nails can make movement less stable.
Ideally, a dog’s nails should be short enough that they don’t constantly touch the ground when standing.
Regular trims keep paws healthy and help dogs move naturally and comfortably.
The Challenge Many Owners Face
Nail trimming is one of the most common grooming tasks dog owners struggle with. Many dogs are sensitive about their paws, and it can be stressful for both the dog and the owner.
Because of this, nails often get trimmed less frequently than they should, which allows the quick (the sensitive inner part of the nail) to grow longer and makes future trims more difficult.
Consistent maintenance is the key.
Frequent small trims are easier on the dog and help gradually keep the nails at a healthy length.
Why Consistency Makes a Difference
The best nail care routine is regular maintenance. Keeping nails short with frequent trims helps:
Maintain healthy paw structure
Reduce risk of splits or injuries
Improve comfort when walking and running
Make the trimming process easier over time
Even dogs that walk frequently on pavement usually still need routine trims.
